Key Characteristics & Behavior
  • Appearance: They feature an olive-green body with a brilliant, glowing lime-green stripe. Like other Corydoras, they are armored catfish with bony plates instead of scales.
  • Substrate Needs: A soft sand substrate is essential. These fish sift through the sand for food, and rough gravel can damage their sensitive barbels (whiskers), leading to infections.
  • Diet: They are omnivorous scavengers. While they eat leftover food on the bottom, they require a dedicated diet of sinking pellets, frozen bloodworms, and brine shrimp to thrive.
  • Breeding: Breeding often requires soft, slightly cooler water (around 18°C–24°C) to trigger spawning. They typically deposit sticky eggs on broad leaves or aquarium glass.
