Corydoras habrosus (Salt and Pepper Cory) is a tiny, peaceful bottom-dwelling catfish that reaches about 0.75 to 1.5 inches in size.
Tank Requirements
• Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallons.
• Substrate: Fine sand or smooth, rounded gravel to protect their delicate barbels (whiskers) while they forage.
• Water Parameters:
• Temperature: 70°F – 79°F (21°C – 26°C)
• pH: 6.0 – 7.5
• Water Hardness: 2 – 15 dGH (soft to moderately hard)
• Decor & Flow: Provide live plants, driftwood, and rock caves for security. Keep water flow gentle to moderate with good oxygenation.
Behavior & Tank Mates
• Social: Keep them in a school of at least 6 to 12+ individuals; they become shy and stressed if kept alone.
• Tank Mates: Safe with other peaceful, small community fish like nano tetras, rasboras, and dwarf shrimp. Avoid large or aggressive fish.
Diet
• Type: Omnivorous carnivores. They do not survive on tank waste alone.
• Foods: Sinking nano pellets, micro wafers, frozen or live baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and microworms. Always make sure sinking food reaches the bottom.
